In 2012 the New Zealand Masters Open Water Championships will be staged in the south Island. There will however be a 2.5km Masters Classic race swum on Sunday the 15 January in the same format as the Masters Open Water Championships for anyone interested. You do not need to be a registered Masters Swimming to participate in the 2.5km Master Classic.

Wetsuits.

Wetsuits can be worn in all Epic events. Swimming New Zealand would like to thank the Tuwharetoa Maori Trust Board for providing access to Lake Taupo. Please help us protect the future of Lake Taupo from Didymo and other pest. Wetsuits can very easily carry the Didymo diease and other pests picked up from other water ways around the world. Lake Taupo is currently Didymo free and with your support it can stay this way for many more years. With the support of the Department of Conservation all athletes must have their wetsuits dipped prior to registration.

To hire a wetsuit please contact Jared Jamison from Swimmerbro at jared@swimmerbro.co.nz. He will be on site at the Epic Swim with wetsuits and other products. Please dont leave it to the day, be sure to contact him ahead of time.

The New Zealand Open Water Championships are being run under FINA Rules so wetsuits are not permitted in these races.

Revive & Restore Massage.

Once again in 2012 Revive and Restore Massage will be onsite to provide massages to competitors prior to and following races. The charge is $1 per minute. Massages can also be received at the Revive and Restory clinic on the Friday preceeding the Epic Swims. To make a reservations call Paulette on 07 377 0069.
